Winsor gallery presents Brian Howell: Burnt Forests
August 6th – September 5th 2015
opening reception thursday, august 6th, 2015

Winsor gallery presents “Burnt Forests”, a new series of large-scale photographs from Brian Howell. The exhibition is a selection of hauntingly beautiful winter landscapes of forests previously ravaged by fire.  As witnessed this summer, the frequency and scale of wildfires continues to grow throughout BC. Large sections of the province are bone dry and there are currently over 100 active wildfires burning at this time. Howell researched a number of wildfire locations in BC. He spent the past two winters travelling to remote regions to capture the devastation of bent, broken and blackened trees that appear like scratches against the pristine snow covered backdrop.
