BEAUTIFUL NEW WORK BY ANN GOLDBERG

Ann Goldberg has been busy in her studio painting some beautiful new commission based work as well as some new paintings for her upcoming 2015 exhibition.

Recently vocalist and music educator Jessica Yan has been sitting for Ann. This has resulted in a stunning portrait of the artist. Set along the beautiful coastal shore near Jericho Beach, the painting captures Jessica's natural glow as well as the breathtaking scenery of "Beautiful British Columbia".

Yan trained as a professional singer at the Northeastern Normal University and the Beijing Central Conservatory of Music in China.  Blessed with a splendid and powerful voice, she has skillfully interpreted many popular classics in Mandarin, English, Italian, German and French. She also specializes in the application of Western vocal techniques to Chinese Art Song presentations. In addition to performing Yan is a dedicated music educator in both Canada and China. She has worked with the UBC School of Music Professor Nancy Hermiston, the internationally renowned Romanian Opera Singer Ileana Cotrubas and with Julliard School professor Marshall Williamson. Yan is the founder of the Sino-Canadian Foundation for Music Education, which aims at promoting inter-cultural understanding through music. She is a guest professor of Xiamen University and the director of Vancouver Opera Association.

Yan recently hosted an event entitled East Meets West - a fundraiser for beating cancer for kids at the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts, learn more about this event here: http://vmocanada.com/201415-season-concerts/jessica-yan-vmo-east-meets-west-beating-cancer-for-kids-concert
