HAPPY ROYAL PORTRAIT MONDAY!

Ewa Juszkiewicz is a young Polish artist who works in painting, drawing, installation and animation.  Her subject matter generally involves the image of women and how they have been depicted throughout art history.  By altering the face of these subjects they became anonymous, and are a symbol of women in general rather than a specific person.  Through references from art history and other forms of collage, the image creates new meanings and dialogue, versus what would have been a historical descriptive portrait of a high class woman .  We think these portraits are delightfully ominous, and for more information, click here to see Ewa's fantastic website!
