HAPPY MARILYN PORTRAIT MONDAY!

Happy Portrait Monday!  Today we are bringing you the infamous Marilyn Monroe, re-imagined by Toronto artist Tony Scherman.

Scherman was raised in Paris, France and received his MA at the Royal College of Art in London.  Canadian Art Magazine says, "The work is pure in its aim to provide a late-twentieth-century painterly response to some of the most profound questions of all time - questions of evil, power, weakness and genocide".  These historically based works certainly grabbed our attention, throwing us back into the realm of traditional painting while still giving it a modern twist.
