HAPPY PORTRAIT MONDAY

Tatsuhito Horikoshi's Summerday is both humorous and eerie, displacing as it does the faces of figures in a 'family photo' style painting with black voids occupied by celebratory emoticons.

Though we discovered Tatsuhito's work in Artsy, the identity of the young artist remains vague as no English-language biographies for him seem to exist on the internet. His works explore the vacuous weirdness of growing up, in a similar fashion to the paintings and drawings of Yoshitomo Nara.
