PATRICK FAIGENBAUM - AT THE VAG
|Patrick Faigenbaum, Famille Massimo|
On now at the Vancouver Art Gallery is Patrick Faigenbaum.
Faigenbaum's photography is characterized by a painterly sensibility, and is every bit as infused with history as the people and places that he depicts. Though best known for his photographs of aristocratic Italian families, the exhibition at the VAG will show these as well as photographs he has taken while traveling across Europe over the course of 25 years. These "large-scale photographic tableaux are infused with the artistic effects of light and shadow, texture and other visual cues that reference the histories of painting, photography and cinema. His portraits of individuals reveal the fleeting intimacy and ultimate distance between artist and sitter, while his photographs of urban peripheries and rural landscapes allude to the socio-economic changes taking place within Europe."
The exhibition will be on from now until June 2, 2013.
