Winsor Gallery artist Brian Boulton has been selected as a finalist for the 2011 Kingston Prize for Canadian Portraiture.

The Kingston Prize is a juried prize, awarded through a national competition in which contemporary Canadian portraiture artists are selected to compete.  For 2011, the monetary portion of the prize has been doubled in size to $20,000.  The aim of the award, and the money that accompanies it, is to encourage Canadian portrait artists to continue their practice, as well as push the boundaries of the art form and develop new and innovative approaches to portraiture.

The winner will be announced November 10 of this year, at a gala event held in Toronto, at the Royal Ontario Museum.

Visit The Kingston Prize website for more info on the prize and other finalists:

You can see Boulton's work on display here at Winsor Gallery as part of our Summer Group Show, on now until September 11.
